Bruno Jakob

was born in 1954 in Jegenstorf (Switzerland), and has lived in New York City since 1983. He studied painting under Franz Fedier at the Basel School of Art from 1976 to 1978, and under Christian Megert at the Dusseldorf Academy of Art from 1978 to 1981.

He developed early on an interest in the invisible, hidden, latent, lost, unrealized, and unportrayable aspects of reality, and has spent the last 30 years processing these in his “Invisible Paintings,” using materials such as water, energy, thought, and touch as his media. With his invisible paintings and the performances in which he paints before an audience, the artist appeals to the open mind and power of imagination of the observer. Bruno Jakob is being recognized for his distinct position beyond the boundaries of any trend, dictated by the close limits of Switzerland and the vastness of the world.

Bruno Jakob has lived and worked in New York in the US since 1983. List of exhibitions: www.peterkilchmann.com
